Kindergarten at St. John the Evangelist School offers a full-day program, with students attending class from 8:15 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This full-day program allows students and teachers the additional time necessary to enrich and expand on the core curriculum. The class has one credentialed teacher and one full time aide.
The curriculum at St. John the Evangelist School follows the standards for the Diocese of Sacramento and the State of California. Students in Kindergarten receive daily instruction in the following core subjects:
- Language Arts (Reading, Phonics, Storytelling, Writing)
- Social Studies
Specialized teachers offer weekly enrichment opportunities in:
- Computer technology
- Physical Education
During the academic year, the Kindergarten program also takes time to participate in cultural celebrations, including Chinese New Year, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Mardi Gras, and Cinco de Mayo, to name a few.
Each student in Kindergarten is mentored by their sixth grade “buddy”. They attend weekly Mass together and participate in different fun activities during the school year.
