buddy program
The Buddy Program is one of the most cherished traditions at St. John the Evangelist and a defining part of the SJE experience. Every student is paired with a buddy, creating meaningful relationships across grade levels that foster friendship, leadership, and a strong sense of community. Many buddy pairs remain together over the course of four years, allowing younger students to grow alongside a trusted mentor throughout their elementary years.
For our younger students, having an older buddy provides a sense of belonging, comfort, and confidence. Whether reading together, participating in school Masses, celebrating special events, or simply spending time together, younger students know they have a caring role model they can look up to and rely on. For our older students, serving as a buddy cultivates leadership, responsibility, compassion, and the opportunity to model our Catholic values through kindness and service.
The Buddy Program reflects what makes SJE unique, a close-knit school community where every child is known, valued, and supported. The friendships formed through this program often last for years, creating memories and connections that students carry with them long after they graduate.
