EXCELLENCE FOR ALL SINCE 1961

The early years of a child's education are among the most important. At St. John the Evangelist, our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten programs provide the strong academic, social, emotional, and spiritual foundation students need to thrive throughout their educational journey. These formative years establish the habits, confidence, and love of learning that set the tone for future success in elementary school and beyond.

Our TK and Kindergarten classrooms offer a developmentally appropriate, hands-on learning environment where children build essential skills in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and faith formation through engaging lessons and purposeful play. Students develop early literacy by learning letter recognition, phonics, handwriting, vocabulary, and reading readiness while strengthening number sense, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning. Just as importantly, they learn how to collaborate with classmates, communicate effectively, solve conflicts, follow routines, demonstrate responsibility, and grow in independence.

By the end of Kindergarten, students have developed the foundational academic knowledge, social skills, and confidence necessary to succeed in elementary school. At SJE, we believe that a strong beginning creates lifelong learners, compassionate leaders, and students who are well prepared for every stage of their education.
